RAC and Dismantle join forces to break barriers for disadvantaged young people

Dismantle is proud to announce a new community partnership with RAC, formalising a long-standing volunteering relationship and uniting the organisations in their shared commitment to a safer, more connected and resilient Western Australia.

RAC has supported Dismantle through volunteering for more than 10 years, with staff regularly rolling up their sleeves to help prepare BikeRescue program bikes that expand Dismantle’s ability to reach more at-risk young people.

The new partnership elevates this relationship into a structured collaboration designed to significantly improve outcomes for disadvantaged young people.

Since formalising involvement in 2022, 600 RAC staff have contributed over 2900 hours and estimated to be valued at more than $135,000, supporting Dismantle to create brighter pathways for those facing complex challenges. Now with an elevated partnership, RAC will support through a combination of direct funding, skilled volunteering, and team volunteering, to enhance workshop spaces, systems and operations.  RAC volunteers will play a fundamental role in creating a vibrant, safe and inspiring space for the at-risk young people who come through Dismantle’s doors.

RAC teams will help revitalise workshop areas, prepare bikes, improve safety and functionality, and contribute specialist expertise to strengthen systems and operations. These combined efforts will ensure the workshop is not just a place to participate in programs, but a welcoming environment where young people feel supported, valued and motivated to learn, connect and grow.

Pat Ryan, CEO of Dismantle, said formalising the partnership marks a significant milestone. “RAC has been part of the Dismantle story for many years, and we’re thrilled to deepen that relationship,” Ryan said.

“This partnership goes far beyond funding. It’s about showing up for young people, expanding what’s possible for them, and removing the barriers that keep them from education, employment and brighter futures. By combining RAC’s volunteer energy and community commitment with Dismantle’s on-the-ground expertise, we’re creating tangible outcomes that change lives and strengthen our state.”

Together, RAC and Dismantle are demonstrating the power of corporate community collaboration, transforming business resources, volunteering and shared purpose into long-term social impact for Western Australia’s most at-risk young people.

RAC General Manager External Relations, Will Golsby, said the partnership had been a shared purpose and goal for a decade. “Through our community volunteering program, we offer regular opportunities for our people to donate their time during work hours to support not-for-profit organisations like Dismantle.”

“These experiences are a wonderful opportunity for our people to listen and learn from local WA organisations. Our people come away feeling inspired, and connected to our mission, with a deeper understanding of how they can support vital community services and organisations that change the lives of young people, for the better.”

Through the partnership, RAC volunteers will help prepare hundreds of bikes for program delivery, contribute to a safer and more vibrant workshop environment, and support the expansion of activities that build work experience and skills for young people who are facing complex barriers to education and employment.
